Jhanira Smith

Jhanira is 25 years old and has lived in Michigan her whole life She started drawing in the 3rd grade, inspired by her mother.

 

She attended Ypsilanti Community Schools and participated in a five-year program in high school. In the STEMM Middle College program, she had art as an elective numerous times, and in those classes, she became the example for the day's topic.

 

In high school, she was dual enrolled at Ypsilanti Community High School and Washtenaw Community College. She attended the college full-time once she graduated from high school. She graduated from Washtenaw Community College in May 2025 with an associates degree in Fine Arts.

 

After college, she attended the Washtenaw Community College Art Show from March to April 2025. Jhanira also attended the Culture Verse Gallery art show in November 2025 and the AACHM (African American Cultural & Historical Museum Black Artists Exhibition in February 2025. Additionally, she participated in the 4th Annual Black Artist Exhibit at the Riverside Art Center in January 2026.
